375 Français 201Module 1: Page d’écriture Jacques Prévert (France, 1900-1977)Français 201Module 1

Jacques Prévert, (1900 – 1977) was a French poet and screenwriter. One of France’s most popular mondern-day poets, his works resonate with the common man and woman and echo moments of their childhood and adolescence. As a screenwriter, he enjoyed considerable success, especially with Les Enfants du Paradis which often makes its way to people’s list of top ten filmes of all time.

The poem Page d’écriture is a commentary on education, especially how memorisation and discipline in the classroom can stifle the imagination.
